Poems

I’ve been writing poems (mostly in secret) since I was in a poetry workshop at University. It was the best part of my week. We crowded into poet Desmond Graham’s study, hoping for a spot on the battered leather sofa, and we read and laughed and analysed our poems together.

It was magical, and formative. When I think of University, I think of that.

These five poems are set over five days.

It has taken me so many years to write them.

Now, they are ready. And perhaps I am too.
