Rhythm #2

painting of woman unfinished on easel

I’m hopeful.

This painting continues, back and forth, back and forth. I stole a couple of hours this afternoon to work on it some more.

I wasn’t even meaning to.

But I kept on thinking about it – waking up thinking about it – because last time I worked on it, I messed it up badly, and that’s just how it goes. I lost a super nice area under an ill advised experiment. You’ve got to lose it to find it again though. Best have a break for a day or two. And when your mind is constantly returning to it, that’s when to try again.

I think it’s looking better now.

I’m hopeful! There’s an edge to it I don’t like, something catching on my brain, and that’s usually a sign that it will be a beauty in the end.

We’ll see.

Have a good evening!

PS: See this painting in its earlier iterations here and here.
PPS: Groundhog moment: when checking the above links worked, I saw that I’m wearing just the same thing today, weeks later. I clearly have a sort of capsule wardrobe thing going on, and all of it is paint splattered. 🙂

  1. I love the face.. made me think of the Modigliani paintings my 6th grade art teacher showed us a lifetime ago, although I suspect the similarities are more emotional than stylistic. Either way, off I go to look at the previous versions:)

    • Ah, thanks! I’m glad you like it. Think I do too, though I’m not certain yet! 🙂
