Through the Park

When my babies were actually babies, and in the days when I Was In Charge (who am I kidding?!), I spent many hours with them in the park, walking the path to Hampton Court Palace for a cup of tea and a chat to the gardeners, or a turn round the maze and a dabble in the fountains.

I entered this painting ‘Through the Park to Hampton Court’  into the SERCO Prize for Illustration 2015. The theme was ‘London Places and Spaces’ and my idea was to show how the more hidden spaces of London, the parks and the wild areas, sit right next to the historic places.

I didn’t make the shortlist this year, but I really enjoyed putting the picture together, right from the beginning research stage – tea and cake at the Palace (naturally!).
